Thank you for taking the time to check out our review policy! While we primarily focus on YA literature, we do also frequently read and review books outside of the genre.

Please note: We do not accept self-published/independently published books.

* Middle grade fiction
* Young adult fiction (all genres)
* Historical adult fiction
* Science fiction
* Non-fiction (especially in the field of politics/international relations)

* Finished copies
* E-Galleys

If possible, we'd prefer hard copies. We take what we read seriously, and it's easier for us to devote our attention to a physical copy when taking notes, tweeting about updates, etc.

We generally like to post our reviews as close to the publication date as possible, whether this means immediately before, or immediately after. We believe that this helps maximize the exposure for a book.

We've also heard from authors that it's better for them if we review as close to the publication date as possible, because it minimizes the potential for spoilers.

Please note: unless we have hard committed to a date, we will review when we can. Both Tom and I work 70+ hours a week. Between the job + reading + reviewing, we do not have as much free time as we would like.

We believe in writing thoughtful, analytical (and spoiler-free reviews) on the blog, that will make readers think. Our reviews vary in length, but will always have considerable thought put behind it.

* A "two-second recap" or a blurb for the publisher for promotional purposes
* For the review to be posted on Edelweiss, Goodreads and Barnes and Noble
* Frequent tweets and pictures of the titles in question
* Thorough discussion of the title amongst our professional and academic circles. We all have significant academic and professional ties, and we aren't shy about sharing our love for upcoming titles.
* Host giveaways for authors/publishers. If you have an idea for a giveaway, let us know!

We will occasionally:

Create giveaways for titles that we especially like, or are written by authors with whom we have pre-existing relationship. We strongly believe in sharing book karma, and these titles are our way of helping to increase awareness for titles and paying it forward.

We do not ask authors or publishers for giveaways, unless initially offered by the author or the publisher.

Please note:

We generally don't post reviews for books that we didn't enjoy, or would otherwise rate two stars or less on Goodreads. We will send feedback to the publisher, but that it is.
