A guest post from Renee Collins:

Q: Could you talk a little about just how you researched the historical aspects of Until We Meet Again? And how did your research process differ from Relic?
In Until We Meet Again, most of the chapters take place in Cassandra’s viewpoint, though Lawrence is present. So, most of my research consisted of reading up on the way people spoke in the 20’s. I wanted Lawrence’s voice to sound as authentic as possible. I read a lot about popular slang, though given Lawrence’s background as upper class, I had to be careful to determine which slang words he’d actually use.
I also had to research which modern devices that Cassadra has or speaks of would be foreign to Lawrence. Some were self explanatory (cell phones, internet, computers,) but others were less clear. For example, I had one scene where I intended to have Cassandra introduce Lawrence to s’mores. But then, I looked into it and realized that s’mores had already been invented. So instead, I had Cassandra introduce him to Starburst. And it all worked out!
Researching Until We Meet Again differed from researching Relic, in that with Relic, I had the leeway of it being an alternate history of sorts. I still needed to acquaint myself with the cultures and customs of that Era, but I had the freedom to twist and change them to fit my magical world building. It was a lot of fun! Definitely a bit easier than researching Until We Meet Again, where the scenes set in the past had to feel completely accurate.
Q: On a secondary note, were you at all influenced research-wise, by books like Somewhere in Time by Richard Matheson?
Also, given my love of history, I’ve always had a secret dream to meet (and okay, fall in love with) a man from the past. I’m well aware that I’m romanticizing it a bit, but leave me my little dreams. ;)
Renee, you and me both! :) I would love to meet a British gentleman from the Victorian era, though I may not necessarily fit in...
Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us! Check out the details for Until We Meet Again!
Cassandra craves drama and adventure, so the last thing she wants is to spend her summer marooned with her mother and stepfather in a snooty Massachusetts shore town. But when a dreamy stranger shows up on their private beach claiming it's his own—and that the year is 1925—she is swept into a mystery a hundred years in the making.
As she searches for answers in the present, Cassandra discovers a truth that puts their growing love—and Lawrence's life—into jeopardy. Desperate to save him, Cassandra must find a way to change history…or risk losing Lawrence forever.
