With the irresistible pull of Hervé Tullet’s Press Here and the charm of The Monster at the End of This Book, Tom Fletcher’s inviting interactive read-aloud will have kids tilting, spinning, and shaking the book to get the adorable little monster out! That’s right! He’s out of the book…and in their room somewhere. Uh-oh!!
The co-author of the Dinosaur That Pooped series has created a monster that readers will fall in love with
Such was the case with There's a Monster In Your Book. Author Tom Fletcher introduces readers to a blue, round-headed monster with pink horns and a pink-tipped tail, who just happens to be munching happily on the book. Readers are encouraged to get him out of the book, and then get him out of their room, with a series of interactive activities that will allow them to fully engage with a text, like few other picture books.
Fletcher has a knack for writing stories that encourage a level of physical engagement; There's a Monster in Your Book definitely encourages readers to get involved with the text, and as a result, the story becomes something that the reader is living alongside the narrator. The book also interestingly encourages readers to slowly settle down, which will make it a useful (and appreciated) read right before bed.
With illustrations that are quite simply fantastic, this is a book not to be missed.
Highly recommend, full stop.
