Traveling, traveling, traveling!
I found a super cute apartment owned by a couple who also run an art gallery, and decided to go with that! I can't even do justice to how cool this place was - there was original art on the walls; a guest book for us to sign, and more!
Off to dinner!
We had a delightful meal at Perbacco in San Francisco, where we talked books, Doctor Who, and more. Thank you, S&S!
After dinner, it was off to the airport to pick up Angie. No pictures here, because it was late at night! But Angie is perky and kind, just like I thought!

This is always my favorite ALA/ALA MW event, because we're getting to meet a whole entire new generation of young talent, and there's always great stories about how they were discovered, this books and more.
The Simon & Schuster Speed Dating Dinner:
We then sat down and listened to everyone talk about their books, including where they were when they found out that their book had sold, what they used their advance on - Jason's answer of Versace shoes, is still my favorite - and more.

I was especially appreciative of the fact that Tommy acknowledged certain things about the ending of We All Looked Up, and Heather Petty admitted that she was nervous about making sure that she got the British vernaicular right in her book - it really shows how authors are conscious about their audience and what they write.
We were also lucky enough to get a preview of this:
I work with a lot of teens in the course of my job, and I think that this book has the capacity to make a huge impact on their lives. I cannot WAIT for this book to come out.
That's it for now - come back for Part 2 of our recap tomorrow!
