Debut author Rebecca Van Slyke pairs off with seasoned illustrator Priscilla Burris, to create a winning tale explaining how moms learn how to do everything, and be mom.
In her debut book, author Rebecca Van Slyke introduces us to a young girl, who wonders just how her mom has learned all of the wonderful skills that make her mom. The little girl imagines that her mom must have gone to mom school, a place, where moms go to learn all of the special tricks and skills that they use on a daily basis.
With scenes ranging from moms learning how not to lose their kids when grocery shopping, to learning just the right way to tuck a child in, Rebecca's short and sweet sentences help paint a picture that both celebrates the hard work that moms do on a daily basis, while also recognizing the importance of all the things that moms do daily, both big and small.
Rebecca's charming, imaginative tale is paired perfectly with seasoned illustrator Priscilla Burris's drawings. Burris has picked the perfect palate to illustrate this perfect tale, using spring tones and vivid sketches that allow readers to both pick up on the action of a mom's day-to-day activities, while also encouraging younger readers to dream, just like our young protagonist.
All in all, this book is the perfect celebration of mom and child, and also a great addition to any book reader's shelf - particularly tomorrow. Highly recommend, full stop.
