Happy Wednesday, guys!
Today, our WoW pick is Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall!
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine. It’s a weekly meme that allows bloggers to talk about what upcoming book they’re most looking forward to read!
Expected publication: January 3rd 2017 by Clarion Books
Norah can’t leave the house, but can she let someone in? As their friendship grows deeper, Norah realizes Luke deserves a normal girl. One who can lie on the front lawn and look up at the stars. One who isn’t so screwed up.
Readers themselves will fall in love with Norah in this poignant, humorous, and deeply engaging portrait of a teen struggling to find the strength to face her demons.
Why I'm waiting:
First things first: THAT COVER. It's STUNNING. Second, Louise is fantastic whenever we chat on Twitter. :)
Third: There's just something about this synopsis that struck me very deeply. On a specific scale, I always value books that discuss things like agoraphobia and OCD - it's books like Louise's that help us gain insight and empathy into conditions that we may not experience and/or understand.
On a broader level, I really like books that discuss the constant struggle with wanting to feel normal. Regardless of our individual backgrounds, I think that books like Louise's help us realize that we're a little less alone in the world - something I think any reader can appreciate.
